Sambiya River Lodge is a newly renovated midrange lodge.Its situated only 15 minutes from the top of the Magnificent Murchison Falls. It is the perfect location for those who want to experience the tranquility of unspoiled Africa, untouched by mass tourism.

Sambiya River Lodge’s unique charm is in the atmosphere of intimacy provided to the guests.Its surrounded by a vast number of beautiful trees.

Guests stay in any of the 24 cottages designed as individual and family cottages .

Which have en suite bathrooms, fans, screened doors & windows. And a veranda to relax and enjoy the commanding views of quintessential Africa.

The open fronted lodge allows a panoramic vista of hills and game viewing along the Sambiya River. And the adjacent grass covered flood plain. The surrounding area is known for viewing many species of bird life. For most of the year, the park is hot by day and cool by night. A swimming pool offers a break from those hot African afternoons. Floodlights illuminate the river area after dark so that one can see as well as listen to the sounds of the African night before retiring.

Directions Sambiya River Lodge  from Kampala

Route 1 via Luwero
Approx. 280 kms – 4-4 ½ hours

From Kampala take the Gulu road north through Bombo. Luwero and past the left hand turn to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The Kafu River is approx. 10kms. (Note: This road is being worked on. Expect numerous speed bumps and one way traffic in spots.) Just after crossing the river, make a left hand turn at the intersection going to Masindi (45kms). 

This is a new road, so there should be no delays. In Masindi, just after the police station and before the Masindi Hotel. across from the Shell fuel station is a murram road with various signposts, including one for Sambiya River Lodge (SRL). Turn right onto this road and drive 6 kms and then turn left (SRL sign post on the right before the turn off) towards the Murchison Falls Conservation Area. Drive 14 kms to the Kichumbanyobo Gate. Drive north a further 52 kms and just pass the Rabongo turn off, cross the Sambiya River and turn right into the Sambiya River Lodge entrance.
