Over view

With one of the world’s largest Calderas at about 40km long and 8km wide, Mount Elgon National Park situated in the Eastern part of the country-Uganda covers over an area of 1100km2 boarding the western side of Kenya. It has varied beauty to Marvel about including the peaks, band of vegetation zones, wildlife with over 300bird species like the endangered Lammergeyer and variety of mammals plus calderas among other volcanic features like waterfalls. It’s one of Uganda’s best hiking site. Test your fitness levels on this adventure as you partake in hikes to some of the peaks. About 6-9hrs of hiking a day and overnight camping on this tour.

Day 01: Travel from Kampala/Entebbe to Elgon national park-approximately 5hrs drive

Meet with your guide after breakfast at your overnight accommodation, briefing about the tour and later transfer east wards to Mt. Elgon Park via Jinja and Mbale having pleasant view of the country side with rolling vegetation and mabira rainforest, the Nile as you proceed to Jinja. Lunch will be en-route, head to the park for the following day’s arrangements. Overnight: Mbale resort hotel /Country home/Mt. Elgon hotel, Full Board

Day 02: Hiking the sasa trail.

Start with breakfast, and with your guide transfer to the park station before starting the hiking expedition. Proceed for hiking with a ranger guide, potter who helps out in carrying some of our items. The trail is the most direct route to the peaks. Enjoy a beautiful hike through the park’s vast area of bamboo. Overnight: camping, Full Board

Day 03: Mude cave camp trekking.

Today have breakfast, prepare and we continue with our hiking expedition. Proceed with our ranger and potter ahead to the caldera, enjoying the spectacular view and beauty of nature. Utilize the best of your time, trace the highest peaks on Uganda and Kenya side, and visit hot springs. Have picnic lunch, Dinner and overnight camping at the campsite, Full Board.

Day 04: Trekking expedition to hunters cave.

Begin with breakfast, proceed with our guide and potter for a steep-long hike to the cave just below the caldera. These caves riddle the slopes of the mountain and are a result of deposits left by lava. Enjoy the beautiful blend of nature with magnificent landscapes. Picnic lunch, Dinner and overnight camping. Full Board.

Day 05: Hike the Piswa trail -kapkwata trail head

After breakfast, today enjoy being part of lucky hikers in the park as you spot wildlife on this route including primates, birds and vegetation of rare tree species. Descend and head to the ranger station. Proceed to the lodge for lunch and evening relaxation. Dinner here and overnight. Overnight: Sipi falls rest camp, Full Board.

Day 06: Hike to Sipi falls and return to Kampala-about 5hrs of transfer

Start with breakfast at the overnight accommodation, today sign-off with an exciting hike to Sipi falls, be able to have good view of Kapchorwa and the Karamoja plains. Travel back to Kampala /Entebbe afterwards, have lunch en-route in Mbale/ Jinja.
